Yusuke Yamanaka is the 2011 Senior Performance Competition Winner.
Yusuke Yamanaka is a senior at Maryville High School. He has received several awards and recognitions in local and state competitions, including 1st place in the 2010 and 2011 Blount County Keyboard Teachers’ Association competition, 2nd place in the 2011 TMTA competition, and 3rd place in the 2011 MTNA competition. Yusuke was also selected to attend the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts in 2010. In addition to piano, Yusuke also studies violin as both a soloist and a member of the school orchestra. Throughout his musical career, Yusuke has studied with two very accomplished teachers. He formerly studied with Krystyna Koneczy of Maryville, and currently takes lessons from Dr. David Northington at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. At the Governor’s School for the Arts, Yusuke also studied with Dr. Jerome Reed of Lipscomb University as well as several guest instructors. Yusuke hopes to study biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania but plans to continue his musical endeavor as a minor.
