All Festival participants performed wonderfully, but special congratulations to our Festival awardees.

Awards and monetary scholarships are offered to Festival participants in the three categories listed below. Winners of the Senior High Competition and recipients of the Outstanding Performance Awards also have the opportunity to perform at the concert recital that follows the competition.

Merit Scholarships Awards


This is a non-competitive category. Awards are based on final score
sheet submitted by the clinicians. Multiple awards are granted.

 

Merit Scholarships
Eligibilty: Regular Festival participants.
Scholarship awards of $10 to $50.

Outstanding Performance Awards


This is a non-competitive category. Awards are assigned at
the clinicians' discretion based on their subjective assessment of students'
musicianship and difficulty of repertoire.
 

Advanced Soloists
Intermediate Soloists
Elementary Soloists
 

Ensembles
All registered levels.
 

Senior High Competition


This is a competitive category with first, second and third places
awarded based on specific scores
assigned by the clinicians.
 

Senior Competition
Eligibility: Participants who are seniors in high school and
registered in the advanced level will be automatically entered into the
Senior High Division of the Festival.
 

First place - $500
Second place - $300
Third place -$100
 

All participants will receive tickets to the Johnson City Symphony concert
of their choice, complements of the JCSO.

CONCERTO COMPETITION


This is a competitive category. Participants will perform one movement
of a concerto, together with their accompanist.

Eligibility: Advanced level only, all instruments.
Winner: The winner of the competition will have the
opportunity to be featured as soloist with area orchestras.

Goodfriend Concerto Scholarship Award
in recognition of our featured artist.
